Clear and Present Danger

For reasons to numerous to list (or to link, as it were) the religious right in the United States should be considered a clear and present danger to the well-being of the country, if not the world. They are fools and dogmatists. Their meshing of politics and religion is an offense to the human condition, to the very ability of a human being to understand its own existence.

Remember this: Anger is born of frustration. Hatred is born of fear. Think about it.

What are they afraid of? Difference. They're afraid of anything not like them. What does this fear amount to? Weakness. Gross, absolute and insufferable weakness.

Let the reasonable religious people in this country, those who can believe and still think, take these people out of the picture. Evolve the culture of faith into a thinking thing. It's not as difficult as you might imagine.

Do this now. Otherwise we are all doomed. If you think otherwise, I'd advise you to look at around one half of the news in America. If you do not see the pattern then...well, read more. It's there. It's a gross pattern. And it cannot be escaped.

They are terrified of change because they are too weak to handle difference. Difference, diversity, and unity through dialogue therein; this is the basis of democracy. What does that tell you about their goals?
